How the rim actually works
The Slevoo has a rolled steel rim along the top edge of the box. When a cat digs and kicks litter upward, the litter hits that rim and falls back into the box rather than onto the floor. It is a simple design and it works well.
In our testing with an active digger, the Slevoo cut floor scatter by roughly 60-70% compared to a rimless box. That is a meaningful difference. You still get some scatter — no box eliminates it completely: but the cleanup routine is much faster.
The 6.5-inch wall height also helps. Taller walls mean litter needs to travel further up to escape the box. Between the rim and the wall height, the Slevoo is the best scatter control you can get in a stainless steel box.
The cleaning tradeoff
The rim folds back on itself, which means litter can pack into that fold. When you do a full clean, you need to rinse the rim fold directly under running water to flush out any packed litter. It adds about 30 seconds to the weekly clean. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing.
The steel itself cleans the same as any stainless box. Rinse with hot water and a drop of dish soap. Dry before adding litter. The non-porous surface means zero odor retention.
